Ulsan City has created Anion Park, a Companion Animal Health Culture Center where people and animal companions can enjoy themselves together. The city expects that the work done by this center will increase the adoption rate of abandoned companion animals.
The city budgeted 100 million won for the establishment of a companion animal health culture center. This center is a pledge project of Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom for the protection of abandoned animals.
The city is promoting the creation of a happy companion animal culture park where people and animals can be together, considering that the number of single-person households is increasing and the companion population is increasing due to low birth rates and aging. Early in 2020, Anion Park in Buk-gu Ulsan, the only companion animal culture and play space in the southeast region, received a lot of attention even before its opening.
According to Lee Seung-jin (Chairman of Ulsan City Veterinary Association) who promoted the Anion Park project, “abandoned animal protection facilities, as well as educational centers and parks, must be built together.” He added, “Simply put, we must protect abandoned animals.”
