On the 29th, a team of reporters from the Ulsan English Newspaper interviewed Kim Sung-chul, the principal of Beomseo Middle School.  The principal is trying to lead the students of Beomseo Middle School well and develop the young people of Ulsan into talented people who will shine.

Q. Why did you want to be a teacher?
Answer. "First, I wanted to live a recognized life. When I was a kid, my household wasn't very well-off. At that time, if I thought I was a bad student, I would have been called away to cut down trees and work in the fields, so I hated it.  It's because I wanted to live a life with no regrets. Rather than passing on the life that every parent longs for to another generation, I thought I would make it happen for me. So, to me, studying felt like an absolute duty."

Q. What is your teaching experience?
Answer. "Starting with Haman Middle School in Gyeongnam on September 1, 1987, I have been working as the principal of Samho Middle School ▷ Yanggok Middle School ▷ Ulsan Information and Communication High School (1996) ▷ Beomseo Middle School ▷ Hwajin Middle School ▷ Yeonam Middle School ▷ Gangnam Meister High School ▷ Hogae Middle School (2013) ▷ Maegok Middle School (Principal_19), a total of 35 years."

Q. What is the principal's duty?
Answer. "I am responsible for managing/supervising students and teachers (principal, full-time, part-time, after-school, instructor, native assistant), general staff (local education administrative staff), and other staff (professional counselors, nutritionists, librarians, cooks, special education assistants, administrative staff, on duty drivers, and school safety guards). The school's personnel management, finance, security, office affairs, class management, and academic system are also part of my job, and I make the final decisions. I also have the authority to finally invoke administrative measures for schools under the superintendent's instructions. I have the authority to command the evacuation of students and faculty members in case of emergencies such as natural disasters or wars, and to start/operate the school emergency system."

Q. Is there anything you want to change in Beomseo?
Answer. "In order to promote students' convenience in terms of facilities, we would like to install shoe racks at the central entrance, east, and west entrance, respectively, to make things more convenient during rainy days or sports activities. In addition, I want to install stands and a canopy on the playground so that it can be used as a shade and rest area during sports activities or breaks. In terms of educational activities, we will carry out a campaign to have a club that will interest everyone so that students can enjoy their school life. Even if there is only a small number of people in the club, we plan to support them to find an instructor, material, and activity expenses to make it a practical educational activity. In addition, I would like to make efforts to promote international exchanges so that we can increase our understanding of coexistence and empathy in the global era through international exchanges and grow into a global citizen."

Q. What are your plans for Beomseo Middle School in the future?
Answer. "First of all, I plan to present the <Proud Bumseoin> award. I would like to select proud scribes by comprehensively evaluating students' various activities. We would like to improve reading education and school library-related projects to foster creative and convergent talents with humanities imagination. Also, regaring sports competitions and field trips, I would like to work on a student participation program. Finally, we are also planning to protect the Earth through <Zero Residue>."

Through this interview, we could see the principal trying to bring up the students of Beomseo Middle School well. I think our leader is a principal who supports students, who will help us into the future, and promote a thriving society.
