Student reporter Kim Myung-seop
Since lawmaker Kim Ki-hyun announced his candidacy for party leader, our team has focused on Kim Ki-hyun's past actions and how he wants to lead the People's Power as party leader. Rep. Kim Ki-hyun, who was interviewed by student reporters, was rather relaxed and responded sincerely to the reporters. Here are the questions and answers:
-What do you think about the controversy over Cheong Wa Dae's election intervention in the 2018 local elections?
▷ It's often called election intervention, but I think it's an election maneuver. Intervention is a concept of help. The duke is the idea of 'make'. It failed to put the outrageous charges on the table, leaving about 10 ringleaders involved under investigation. This is an example that should never be repeated in the history of the constitution of the Republic of Korea. If public officials begin to maneuver in elections using public power, liberal democracy in the Republic of Korea will collapse completely. If we do not punish them here, we could create a risk factor that many cases will follow.
In any case, the responsibility must be clearly held in this case. However, from a political point of view, I feel sorry. Personally, I don't want the lawmaker to get worse, but I think strict measures are necessary for the development of the entire Korean politics.
- Why did former Supreme Council member Kim Jae-won refuse to file an election invalidation suit?
▷ The laws of Korea seem to be very well-organized, but in fact, there are a lot of them that are not easy to follow. This is true for the election-related laws. In the past, I did not expect that public power would blatantly intervene in elections, twisting and maneuvering elections. The law on public officials intervening in elections in the relationship between individuals is organized. There is no blatant preparation for the power to maneuver, so there is no way to investigate the case in which the power intervenes as long as it is alive.
